An honest comparison with Semrush, Ahrefs, Seobility and Sitechecker — including what BeOnTop does not do.
BeOnTop is a free website checkup that also fixes things, made for owners who are not SEO experts. Semrush, Ahrefs, Seobility and Sitechecker are paid research and monitoring suites, made for people who work on SEO every day. They are different kinds of tool, and many people sensibly use both.
| BeOnTop | Paid suites (Semrush, Ahrefs, Seobility, Sitechecker) | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Free. No card, no trial. Fair use: up to 20 websites and 50 AI runs every 30 days. | Paid subscriptions; some have a small free tier. Check each one’s own page for today’s prices. |
| Website audit | Yes — more than 40 checks, plus Google speed (Core Web Vitals). | Yes — often much deeper, crawling every page of large sites. |
| Plain-language explanations | Yes — this is the main purpose. Every finding says what it is, why it matters and what to do. | Written for specialists; usually more data, more jargon. |
| Fixes things for you | Yes, on WordPress and Shopify: it writes what is missing (image descriptions, titles, descriptions). It only fills empty fields and never overwrites yours. Not theme code. | In their public descriptions they mostly report the problem and tell you how to fix it; we found no automatic fixing. |
| Your place on Google for words you choose | Yes — any word or phrase, and your place on Google Maps for local businesses. Free, 30 checks a day. | Yes — daily tracking of hundreds or thousands of words, with long history. |
| AI search visibility | Yes — real questions put to Perplexity and Gemini, to see whether they name and cite your site. (Not ChatGPT.) | Several now track more AI platforms (ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and others), usually as a paid add-on. |
| Keyword research with search volumes and difficulty | No. | Yes — their core strength. |
| Backlink database | No. | Yes — their core strength. |
| Alerts, API, Zapier/Make | Yes — alerts to e-mail, phone, Slack or any webhook; a read-only API; ready recipes. | Usually yes (for example Sitechecker documents an API that works with Zapier and Make), often on higher-priced plans or as an extra. |
| Greek-language interface and reports | Yes — Greek, English, Spanish and German. | Varies — check each tool’s own language list. |
A common path: start with BeOnTop, fix what it finds, and add a paid suite only when a specific need appears — for example backlink research. BeOnTop’s results are not a replacement for theirs.
Nobody independent has benchmarked BeOnTop’s accuracy against the big suites. Its checks follow public rules (Google’s own guidance, PageSpeed Insights data), and every finding says what it looked at, but we do not claim it is equal to a professional platform. This page is based on the vendors’ public descriptions in October 2026; plans change, so check them before you decide. If anything here is wrong, tell us at info@aqua4all.org and we will correct it.
